Get back up warrior….
Get Back Up, Warrior
I think sometimes we forget just how strong we really are.
Life has a funny way of reminding us.
It can throw us a curveball when we least expect it. Sometimes it’s something big, and sometimes it’s just a bunch of little things that somehow become really heavy.
And you know what?
It’s okay to get down.
It’s okay to be sad. It’s okay to be disappointed. It’s okay to cry, to be frustrated, or to have a day when you just don’t feel like yourself.
I think sometimes we believe being strong means we shouldn’t feel those things.
But I don’t believe that at all.
Being a warrior doesn’t mean we never get knocked down. It means somewhere inside of us, we have the strength to get back up.
So give yourself a minute.
Give yourself permission to cry. Be mad. Be disappointed. Honor whatever it is you’re feeling.
Just don’t build a home there.
Because there is a warrior inside each of us, and sometimes we just have to remind ourselves that warrior is still there.
Maybe you’re tired.
Maybe you’re a little bruised.
Maybe you just need a minute.
And that’s okay.
But that warrior inside of you hasn’t gone anywhere.
Think about everything you’ve already made it through. Think about the times you weren’t sure how you were going to get through something—and somehow, you did.
Maybe you didn’t come out of it exactly the same.
Maybe you weren’t supposed to.
But you got back up.
And you can do it again.
You don’t have to have everything figured out today. And you certainly don’t have to get back up and immediately start running.
Maybe today you just stand.
Maybe tomorrow you take a step.
Sometimes we forget how much power we really have inside of us. We forget about that warrior who has already carried us through so much.
So when life knocks you down, give yourself permission to feel whatever you need to feel.
And when you’re ready, remind yourself of who you are.
Remind yourself of everything you’ve already made it through.
And then…
Get back up, warrior.
Something to ponder…
What has knocked you down lately, and what would one small step toward getting back up look like for you?
With all my heart,
Mary Wyrick – Wyrick Edge
